Sofia Suleanschi: We come to support young people in career guidance. Here’s all you need to know about Career Guidance Centers.
CEDA organized in partnership with ANOFM, the Regional Jobs Forum in Cahul for the first time. Such events will be organized in Soroca and Chisinau. We invite you to read an interview with Sofia Şuleanschi below about the Career Guidance Centers.
CEDA organized in partnership with ANOFM, the Regional Jobs Forum in Cahul for the first time. So, from what I understand, there are similar events in Soroca and Cahul. What is the purpose of these forums?
The purpose of these events, which we organize together with our strategic partners: National Employment Agency (ANOFM) and its offices in Cahul, Soroca and Chisinau, is to promote the world of professions for young people in these regions, as well as to engage in constructive dialogue with other stakeholders interested in providing opportunities for young people to be able to develop a successful career here at home.
Who and how should young people be helped in their career training, as well as in their guidance in the profession?
First of all, young people start their way to a profession from the school’s desks, but also in their families. CEDA, within the REVOCC project, supported by the Austrian Development Agency and in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, have intervened in the curriculum of the Civic Education discipline where a module is dedicated to vocational orientation. Certain elements in this field are currently piloted in another discipline – Technological Education. But career guidance is certainly also a part of the labor market institutions, and several services have been developed here within the Career Guidance Centers, which were created in the last year at the AOFM Cahul, Chişinău and Soroca. These Centers have been equipped with modern equipment; together with experts in the field, several tools and services have been developed that will help young people in planning and developing a successful career. Even today’s event is a part of those services, which in the nearest future can become both an informational platform and a practice of guidance and professional guidance for young people.
Where can young people look for support when they are looking for a job or want to choose a profession?
So far, three Career Guidance Centers have been opened within the Employment Agencies of Chisinau, Cahul and Soroca.
The centers offer free career guidance services through:
– information about the world of professions, the specifics of the labor market, professions demanded on the labor market, etc.
– self-knowledge (who I am, what I can, how my qualities fit, my traits with the dream profession etc.);
– professional marketing (how do I promote myself, including CV, letter of intent, how can I interview, etc.)?
– making decisions (how do I decide which profession I choose, what job I’m looking for, etc.).
The addresses of these Centers can be found at www.stage.ceda.md
What recommendations do you have for today’s young people who will become employees or perhaps tomorrow’s businessmen?
First of all, to analyze thoroughly what they would like to become and what they like to do, what skills and competences they already have, and whether they can be of use in what they want to become. Also to be informed about the situation in the market regarding the chosen profession, but also about the employers’ requirements. As for those who wish to initiate, start a business, or self-employ their own responsibility – I would encourage them first and foremost to think well about the idea, to evaluate it thoroughly. Study the demand for the product or service they want to promote, and certainly think carefully about those who are going to benefit, buy the product or the service they offer. Of course, many more things are to be taken into consideration, but here we are especially encouraging young graduates of the professional-technical institutions in the country, for whom CEDA has a special offer of business training with the opportunity to get and support financially for purchasing the necessary equipment.
