Workshop on the activity of Career Guidance Centers

On July 18, 2017, CEDA in partnership with the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) organized a workshop on the activity of Career Guidance Centers. The event was attended by representatives of the Career Guidance Centers of the Agencies for Employment (AOFM) of Cahul, Soroca and Chisinau. In addition, the representatives of ANOFM and AOFM Comrat, Ungheni, Balti, Orhei, Hincesti took part in the event and were interested in career guidance activities. The event was hosted by the Chisinau Career Guidance Center within the Botanica Sector of Employment (8 N. Titulescu str.).

The workshop was organized within the project “Re-Engineering Vocational Orientation and Career Counseling” (REVOCC), implemented by CEDA, in the partnership with the Ministry of Education, the National Agency for Employment, and the financial support provided by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).

At the opening, the participants were encouraged with a word of greeting from Raisa Dogaru, ANOFM Director, Sofia Şuleanschi, Executive Director of CEDA and Irina Oriol, Program Manager, ADA. Speeches focused on the following aspects:

– Need for career guidance

– The role of Career Guidance Centers and local partnerships in this process

– Perspective visions, etc.

The three Career Guidance Centers in Cahul, Soroca and Chisinau, opened during 2016, reported on the diversification of youth services (tests, visits to enterprises, visits to vocational education institutions), the capitalizing of the opportunities for collaboration, highlighted at roundtables, held in April – May 2017. Together with other colleagues, analyzed the opportunities for reconfiguration of the Career Fair and suggested more ideas for the planning of this event. Ideas for data entry in Jobless were collected. A model plan has been proposed, correlated with other tools within the ANOFM internal procedures, etc.

The AOFM representatives from Balti, Comrat, Hincesti, Orhei and Ungheni mentioned that the experience of their colleagues in the Career Guidance Centers is interesting and gives very good impressions. They proposed to promote the experience at government level to facilitate positive change.

The REVOCC project (“Re-Engineering Vocational Orientation and Career Counseling”) started in December 2014 and continues until November 30, 2017. It aims to improve the image of secondary technical vocational education in the Republic of Moldova by re-engineering professional orientation and career counseling of students in general secondary education and technical secondary education.

The objectives of the Project are:

Linking the education system to the labor market demand to increase employment and work productivity.
Development of the capacity of secondary and vocational technical secondary education institutions and of ANOFM to provide inclusive vocational guidance and career counseling services to young people to support their socio-economic and educational integration.
